What is your motivation for your spiritual practice?
Perhaps you sit on your cushion every day to find inner peace in meditation, or perform Infinite Tai Chi to achieve radiance and vitality. There is nothing wrong with this and is indeed very valid and productive in the short-term as you deepen into the Grace of your arts. However, practising to principally benefit your self in some way will ultimately limit your progress because you are trapped in a little world of “me”.
When you dedicate your practice for the betterment of others, your conscious awareness expands into a much bigger picture. The essence and quality of your work changes. And in a way it is much easier to practise for the benefit of others, as the motivation becomes stronger.
So next time you sit to meditate or perform Infinite Tai Chi, dedicate your practice to ease the suffering of others. How vast, wide and infinite is that motivation!
Remember, when your intention is to benefit others, you also benefit yourself…because we are all inter-connected!
