“DEVELOPING TRUST”
CHAPTER 12
“UNDOING YOUR PERSONALITY-SELF”
CHAPTER 12
Developing Trust
Trust is a cornerstone of spiritual growth. It is easy to have trust in life’s benificence when all is going well, But do you have the capability and capacity to trust that all will be well and for your highest good – even in times of challenge? Please reflect on this.
It is not easy, and is rather a process. Sometimes we will succeed, other times falter. But trust is a muscle that needs exercising, so keep trying. The rewards are immense: you start to go through life knowing that nothing can harm you. It is a beautiful freedom.
You can not use your own intelligence to plan your spiritual journey. It will never work.
Can you surrender your own will to God: “Thy will be Done?” Again, it is all about complete Trust.
Learn to trust the dance of life.
Do you accept the rhythm of life, its ups and downs, its ebb and flow? Or do you expect life to be always good, comfortable, happy? Go within and notice any resistance to this acceptance.
See the whole picture.
When we are experiencing challenges, we all have a tendency to focus on our problems. This unfortunately tends to make them bigger! Can you recall an incident for you when this was so? Reflect on how much the problem occupied your thoughts. When we “zoom out” to see the bigger picture, your problem naturally shrinks. Seeing the big picture may mean noticing others’ cares, helping others, lightening up and smiling at misfortune.
CHAPTER 13
Undoing your Personality-Self
All your Problems are about “Me”.
Can you agree with this statement? As you identify more with your eternal-self, your “problems” cease to have an effect on you. They become an opportunity to learn, to grow, to heal.
Your ego-self can make the problems of others your own, by concerns about how it affects you! When a loved-one is suffering, send them love and compassion. Holding fear energy on their behalf will not help them at all.
The Spiritual Path is a Path of Undoing.
What do you believe in? Think of a belief you held years ago. Do you still believe it? Can you bring to mind a belief you no longer hold? Beliefs are not aligned to Truth. They are a product of our Culture, our experience, our mood. All this must be undone.
Letting go of our attachments can feel uncomfortable.
Sooner or later, we yearn to be free of our attachment to people, objects, experience. The process of letting go always entails a temporary sense of loss. Sometimes, it is we who make the decision to let go of something. Sometimes, it is made for us, like the break-up of a relationship. Examine some letting go that you have experienced. Recall the pain, hurt and fear you felt. How does it feel now, and can you see how what happened may have been for your highest good? However, some things take longer to heal than others, and do not be concerned if you can’t see the purpose in what happened.
Change your mind, change your world.
It’s true! Every moment, take the opportunity to choose truth over illusion, love not fear. Your perception of the world depends on your energetic essence, your calibration. Bring yesterday to mind; just an ordinary day perhaps. Now, relive that day as though you are miserable, resentful, angry. Can you see that this colours and affects your perception of everything that happened that day? Now, relive that day from a sense of peace, love, joy. How does your recollection of that day change? Each day, you can choose to be in Heaven or Hell. It’s up to you!
