Part II – The Path of Healing
Chapter 4: Healing Your Physical Body
“The cure for all sickness lies within the mind”.
Sickness in the mind manifests as physical illness. Observe your reaction to this statement. How might this happen?
“All is within”. This concept can not really be understood by the thinking mind. Eventually it becomes something you know to be true.
“Most of us actually want to be sick”. Examine this statement very carefully. Although your initial reaction may be to deny this, do you see truth in it at some level? Can you think of an example where being ill has had some advantage to you?
Consider now, chronic illness. Can you see any advantages gained by long-term illness? Do you think it is an unkindness to pose this question?
“Sickness is, at heart, anger taken out on the body”. This is a very important point. We all feel anger from time to time. If we suppress or deny it, the energy of it (e-motion) will take form, and eventually manifest as sickness. As energy practitioners we learn to release all negative energy safely from our bodies. But first, we have to look in to it, in order to transcend it.
“You are not your body, but you still need to look after it”. This is a pragmatic, non-dogmatic approach! Look after your body, it is your vehicle, and a spiritual tool.
“The real goal of all healing practices is to heal your mind”. Unlearned lessons and unhealed issues are taken with you, beyond death. Life is a classroom – all lessons are to be learned sooner or later. Consider the wider implications of this, for people in physical, emotional or mental pain for example.
Chapter 5 : Transcending Your Disturbed Emotions
“Most people distract themselves from their inner suffering by keeping very busy”. Busyness is endemic in our society. We use it to avoid feeling hurt, lonely, empty, and other emotions that are ultimately pointing to the deep loss within when we separated from Source. Think of some examples from your own life.
“Learn to let go of all your anger, blame and resentments and you will start to develop genuine qualities of love, compassion and selflessness”.
In meditation, practice a heart-opening exercise like this one, on a regular basis.
Be still, breathe to the lower abdomen. Let the mind become calm. Now, turn your gentle focus to your heart, and invite the surrounding muscles to relax. Feel the whole area soften and become warm. Slowly, the heart relaxes and opens, and you start to feel waves of loving energy flow through your whole body. It feels so good. This space is your sanctuary of love. Negative thoughts can not abide here. Return to it as often as you can.
“Anger and depression are like twin brothers”. Consider the energetic qualities of anger and depression. One is explosive, the other implodes. Do you agree, and can you see what effects each would have on a person at an energetic, physical, emotional and mental level?
“Often we do not really know why we get angry”. Consider an instance where someone or something made you angry. Now look deeply within to see if you understand that the anger stemmed from your own unhealed issues that the person or circumstance merely triggered.
“Entertaining fear”. Consider some of your fears and how you might be free from fear. Do you think that the fear of loss is at the root of all fear?
You are encouraged to keep a journal of your insights, training and progress for your own benefit.
