How can we remain at peace, in these turbulent times?
If you want to live in a totally peaceful world, you had better go and find another planet to inhabit. If you want everyone to love you, you are asking for the impossible. But if you focus on raising your own consciousness higher and higher, you can learn to love, nurture and strengthen yourself until you become your own best friend.
To move towards a more peaceful world, we first need to find peace within our own hearts and minds, and to do this we have to connect to our internal observer so that we can watch the endless moodiness of our personality-self without drowning in it. In order to be truly peaceful, we also need to experience at least a moment or two of life without fear. We are all masters of living in fear, but now we have to learn the blissful practice of living life without fear! Otherwise life will continue to be meaningless suffering, and when we do not know the real meaning of life, we are basically born to die.
The basic survival instinct is so strong in all of us that it creates a lot of fear in our minds. How can our world ever be at peace if we are all still struggling with survival issues? But when I meditate, I notice that fear based on the survival instinct actually disappears, at least for a while.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if in our lifetime we could double the percentage of human beings who experience unconditional love for themselves? This would make an incredible difference to our world, as millions more people began to dwell in true love and peace, ‘on the mountaintop’ of human consciousness. At the moment, most world leaders rule by using their egoic intellect. Think how miraculous it would be if world leaders began to meditate and to tune into a higher wisdom that could really guide them to rule the world for the benefit of the whole of humankind!
